Storage and file size

How much document storage a project has and how to make large files smaller.

Each project has 20 MB of storage for uploaded documents. That is plenty for the inspection reports, datasheets, and photos of an installation, especially because Condui makes large photos smaller automatically. Source plans do not count.

Check your usage

At the top of the Documents view you see Document storage with a bar. It turns orange from 90% and red when storage is full.

Move the mouse over the bar: every document card then shows its file size. That makes it easy to spot which files take up the most space.

Photos are made smaller automatically

A photo larger than 1.5 MB or wider than 3000 pixels is scaled down to at most 3000 pixels and saved again when you add it. For a photo of a panel, a facade, or a meter cupboard, that stays more than sharp enough. A phone photo of several MB usually ends up at a few hundred KB.

PDFs and SVG images are never changed automatically.

Reduce a document

  1. Right-click the document and choose Reduce size, or choose Reduce size in properties.
  2. Under Quality, choose Balanced or Smallest and click Reduce size.
  3. Condui shows how much smaller the file became.

For a PDF, the pages are turned into images. Text can no longer be selected or searched afterwards. That works well for scanned documents and photo PDFs. A PDF with ordinary text usually does not get smaller this way. If reducing gains nothing, the file stays unchanged.

Remove pages you do not need

A datasheet often shrinks the most when you delete pages you do not need. Open the document and click Delete page to the left of a page. The text of the remaining pages is kept. The PDF's bookmarks and form fields are removed.

You can undo reducing, deleting pages, and replacing files with Ctrl + Z.

When storage is full

If a new file no longer fits in the remaining storage, Condui asks whether it may reduce the files and add them. If you agree, Condui first tries Balanced, then Smallest. A file that still does not fit is skipped.

Make room by reducing a document, deleting pages, or removing documents you no longer need. A single file can be at most 100 MB to be processed.
