Automatic circuit labels

Work with circuit labels, Auto-label, and manual adjustments

With :ui-icon[circuit-labels] Auto-label, Condui automatically sets circuit labels to A, B, C, and so on. You can manually adjust one or more labels while the remaining labels stay automatic.

Open Auto-label

Open :ui-icon[circuit-labels] Auto-label at the top of the one-wire diagram. There you can:

  • turn automatic naming on or off for the entire project;
  • configure No label without outlets;
  • reset all custom labels.

No label without outlets

With No label without outlets, circuits without outlets do not receive an automatic label. For example, an RCD that only supplies other breakers is skipped.

A skipped protection can still be given a manually customized label. That custom label remains until you switch it back to Automatic or reset all custom labels.

Customize one circuit label

  1. Select the protection or circuit in the one-wire diagram or panel view.
  2. Go to :ui-icon[properties] Properties on the right.
  3. Enter a different value in the Label field.

As soon as you edit the label, that label automatically switches from Automatic to Custom. It keeps the manual name you entered. The other protections remain automatically named.

You can also click the Automatic button above the label to switch it to Custom. Click it again to let Condui determine that label automatically.

An orange dot at the top right of the label in the one-wire diagram indicates that the selected protection has a custom label.

What happens to the order?

Automatic labels follow the order of the protections on the panel. If you move an automatically named protection, its letter can therefore change.

A custom label remains unchanged. Automatic naming skips customized letters. For example, if you fix the third protection to A, the order can become B, C, A, D.

This also works for a skipped or unnamed protection without outlets. You can give such a protection a custom label without turning off automatic naming for the rest.

Yellow warning for a custom label

A yellow warning triangle appears on the right side of the label field when:

  • the label does not follow the usual A, B, C sequence, for example Kitchen;
  • the same label is already used by another protection on the same panel;
  • both situations occur at the same time.

Identical labels

Project validation reports a duplicate label as an error because identical visible labels are confusing in the one-wire diagram and panel view.

Reset all custom labels

  1. Open :ui-icon[circuit-labels] Auto-label at the top.
  2. Click Reset all labels.
  3. Confirm with Reset labels.

Condui clears all custom circuit labels and calculates the automatic sequence again. You can undo this change.

Turn off Auto-label completely

Turn off Auto-label when you want to manage every label yourself. Condui then disconnects all labels from automatic naming. New protections receive a sequential label where possible, but existing labels do not change when you move or rearrange items.

Duplicate labels are possible in this mode. Project validation continues to report them as errors.
