Download, import, and restore projects

Project copies, import, and recovery.

This page explains how to work with downloaded project data, meaning your actual project downloaded as a .ZIP file. Condui also creates automatic version backups for cloud projects. See Versions for those.

Download a project copy

From the project overview

Use this route when the project no longer opens.

  1. Stay on the project overview and open the project's :ui-icon[more-actions]menu.
  2. Choose :ui-icon[project-download] Download project.
  3. Save the ZIP file before trying to reopen, reset, or delete the project.

From an open project

  1. Choose :ui-icon[more-actions]Menu > :ui-icon[project-download] Download project.
  2. Save the downloaded ZIP file somewhere recognizable.
  3. Optionally add the date and milestone to the filename, for example house-2026-07-before-inspection.zip.
  4. Keep important copies away from the device on which you draw as well.

A project download contains the editable project data and linked plan assets Condui needs to reopen the project.

Import a project

  1. Return to the start screen.
  2. Choose the import action for a Condui project or drag the project ZIP to the indicated area.
  3. Select the ZIP file or a suitable PDF file.
  4. Wait while Condui checks the project and its assets.
  5. Open the imported project as a separate project.

Editable PDF

Condui can export special PDFs that contain the complete editable project. This is only possible for premium cloud projects and can be disabled for teams.

These PDFs are imported in the same way as a downloaded ZIP. If you import a PDF and receive an error, the Condui data is not available. This means the PDF did not come from Condui or was not exported with this option.

Import problems

PDF is rejectedUse an export for which Keep PDF editable in Condui was enabled, or use the project ZIP.
Project looks older than expectedCheck the file date and project name, and compare with Versions if it is a cloud project.
