Local and cloud projects

Local storage, cloud storage, backups, and offline work.

Local project

A local project is stored in the browser storage of the current device and browser profile.

  • It is free as long as you have an account.
  • The project is not automatically available on another device.
  • QR sharing and version history are not available.
  • Clearing browser data can remove the project.
  • Download a project copy regularly through Menu > Download project.

Cloud project

A cloud project is linked to your account and synchronized with the server.

  • You can open the project on other supported devices.
  • Sharing and version history are available.
  • The number of editable cloud projects depends on a subscription or project unlock.
  • Team roles can determine whether you may view, edit, or share.
  • Access to a project above your plan limit may be restricted when your subscription expires. It is not deleted, but you can no longer edit it.

Moving between cloud and local

This happens largely automatically according to your subscription or unlocks. If you pay for a subscription, everything moves to the cloud automatically. If you do not have a subscription, you receive one free cloud project and can purchase more per project. If you switch to a subscription, all your local projects move to the cloud automatically. You can move cloud projects to local storage, but this is not recommended because you lose functionality.

Open Source Community Edition

The Community Edition has no cloud storage. Everything happens locally.
