Link documents to devices
Attach datasheets to inverters, chargers, and appliances, and include them in the PDF export.
A datasheet is most useful next to the device it describes. Link documents to the devices in your installation. The document stays with the device on the one-wire diagram, the site plan, and the panel view.
Which devices?
You link documents to devices where technical documentation makes sense:
- inverters, batteries, solar panels, rectifiers, and DC-DC converters;
- DC rail systems, for example a Victron Lynx;
- EV chargers;
- heating, ventilation, and heat pumps;
- fixed appliances such as an oven, hob, water heater, or washing machine;
- home automation and energy meters.
Switches, light points, sockets, protective devices, and earthing have no documents.
Link a document
- Select the device on the one-wire diagram, the site plan, or in the panel view.
- In Properties, scroll to Documents.
- Choose the document under Attach document.
The linked document then appears in the device's list. Click it to open it next to your drawing. To unlink, use the cross next to the name, on the device or on the document itself under Linked to.
Include in the PDF export
A document you link to a device is included in the export automatically. For other documents you turn it on yourself:
- with the :ui-icon[export-pdf] Include in export button in properties;
- or with the small export icon at the bottom right of the card in the overview.
In the export dialog the Documents tile is then turned on. The chosen documents follow the drawings in the same PDF, in the order of the overview. An image gets its own A4 page. The page total in the export dialog counts the document pages.
Source plans are not added separately: they are already in the export as the site plan.
Include only some pages
A ten-page datasheet often has only two pages that matter.
- Open the document.
- To the left of a page, click :ui-icon[export-pdf] Include page in export. Chosen pages get a blue outline.
- Choose the pages you need.
The card then shows a dashed export button with the number of chosen pages. If you turn the document off and on again later, your page choice is kept.
Who sees which documents?
Documents can contain personal data. That is why not everyone with access to the project sees every document.
| Who | Sees |
|---|---|
| Owner, team admins, and editors | All documents. |
| Viewers and anyone who scans a QR label | Documents linked to a device, and source plans placed on a floor. |
| Anonymous public link | No documents. |
A document that viewers can see shows Visible to viewers at the top of its properties. So if you link an inspection report to a device, viewers can see it. If you do not want that, leave the report unlinked.
